The concrete barrier wall you see in the medians are not only for the construction workers safety but yours too! Median barriers are used to prevent vehicles from crossing over a median and striking an oncoming vehicle in a head-on crash. Unlike roadside barriers, they must be designed to be struck from either side. The Extension will be constructed in the median from S. Dale Mabry and connect to the Gandy Bridge. The bridge will be elevated 30 feet high, twice as high as your typical bridge design. This maintains sightlines for businesses and cross-streets.
