There will definitely be a lot of steel in the air as Selmon Extension construction crews began to hand large, steel hollow beams that will support the overhead bridge deck on the east end. Crews will erect several large steel beams for the superstructure at the Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway interchange. The process involves lifting and placing components into position, then connecting them together. This operation is scheduled to start next week and takes about four to five weeks to complete. Both directions on Gandy Boulevard between Dale Mabry Highway and Church Street will be closed from 9 pm – 6 am. Drivers will need to use the posted detour.
